Elementary Reconfiguration: Focused K-2 and 3-5 Grade Centers Supporting Students Now and Into the Future

Posted Date: 01/05/26 (09:00 AM)

The district is exploring a K-2 and 3-5 grade center model as one possible way to better support students during a time of declining enrollment and increasing student needs. By having all K-2 students attend one school and all 3-5 students attend the other, the district can balance class sizes, maintain more stable staffing, and provide more consistent academic and social-emotional support at each age level. This helps serve your children better. This approach allows teachers and support staff to focus on a narrower range of student needs, strengthens collaboration, and ensures services are shared more evenly across classrooms. All students would attend both schools during their elementary years, creating a unified system rather than two separate schools, while helping the district plan responsibly for current challenges and future growth.
